Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a bleaching system that lightens discoloured enamel and dentine.
The most common causes include…
- Aging
- Consumption of potential staining substances such as Tea, Coffee, Soft drinks (particularly cola) and Tobacco
- Trauma
- Nerve degeneration
- Old restorations (fillings)
- Development — consumption of excessive amounts of fluoride and antibiotics such as Tetracyclene

Tetracycline
There are some cases where bleaching may not be effective. These are case dependant that require thorough examination and diagnosis. Front teeth that require fillings are usually bleached first and then filled. Colour matching between the teeth and filling material is therefore accurate.
Types of Bleaching Systems
Depending on the system chosen, tooth whitening can be achieved in 1 hour using BriteSmile™
or between seven and ten days with home bleaching.
